Much like Thanksgiving pumpkin pie and the Fourth of July and hot dogs, you can’t have Halloween without costumes. The origins of this dynamic duo dates back over 2,000 years ago, but the most recent research shows that the act of dressing in costume is more than just fun for kids. Whether it’s for Halloween or just a rainy afternoon indoors, dressing in costume engages a child’s brain and stimulates their memory. It has been shown to help kids build problem-solving skills and practice the fine motor skills needed for things like accessorizing (Hopefully this helps you to feel better on those afternoons where you discover an enormous heap of clothes on the floor!)
If you’re still contemplating your child’s costume for this year, we have a few more ideas here to help you utilize your favorite Hey Gang pieces in this year’s get-up. Today’s fairy costume is so unbelievably simple! We paired our organic cotton crew in peony
and the canyon ripstop pinafore
with these fairy wings
and a flower crown that we DIY’ed using a 1” piece of cotton ribbon and some faux blooms from our local craft store that we attached with a hot glue gun.
Whether your kiddo is getting ready for a day of preschool or a night of trick-or-treating, we here at The Hey Gang think getting dressed should always be fun. That’s why each of our pieces is made of high quality fabrics that are intended for play. Every piece is machine washable and thoughtfully created to allow for lots of movement.
